Tie Dye and Bleach

Recently I've been talking a lot about hippie style and festival style but I haven't really gone into that much detail. So today I thought I would focus on one of my favourite aspects of this trend, which is tie dye and bleaching. Tie dye is something that definitely springs to mind when you think hippie and usually you imagine brightly coloured spirals and circles. I love this look but I actually prefer a slightly more subtle look, where the fabric is dyed with less gaudy colours or the fabric is bleached. Just incase you don't know bleaching is sort of like the opposite of tie dye where you remove the dye instead of add it, so it's usually used on dark materials.

When I began thinking about this trend I decided that instead of going out and buying some tie dyed or bleached pieces from the shops, I would make them instead. I have so many boring, old black t-shirts lying around the place I decided that I would try bleaching them and they turned out pretty good!

Here are some pieces on the high street if you're too lazy to do it yourself...
